History of The Silver Image Gallery
Photography Gallery 1973 - 1993

The Silver Image Gallery was owned and directed by Dan Fear for twenty years.
This page is an archive and history of the gallery, the exhibitions and featured artists.

Many people contributed to the success of the gallery here are a few:
Paul Horst, Rodney Stuart, Andy Osteheimer, Claudia Bach, Charles Cowles,
Adrienne Salinger, Deborah Paine, Courtney Coolidge, and Madeleine Hill.

They deserve special recognition for their contributions to the success of The Silver Image.
Thank you for everything you did and for your support.

IRVING PENN
FORTY PRINT RETROSPECTIVE
SEPTEMBER 27 - OCTOBER 29, 1978
45 Print Retrospective. Selections were made from each body of his work.
This was a very expensive exhibit to produce, because each piece had to
be custom framed.  Because of the tremendous costs, I made the decision
to charge a $1.00 admission fee. Many people were stunned when being asked
for a small fee just to visit an art gallery. The gallery lost money putting on
this exhibition but it was worth it because it was a terrific show.
